is R+D STUDIO? We are an interactive agency based in New York City founded by Dyske Suematsu in 2004.

are we? Today’s digital age allows us to work with clients anywhere in the world, but our physical studio is located in the East Village, New York.

should you work with us? Perhaps because you are not a big corporation, and therefore cannot afford to hire a big agency, but still want your Website or Web application to be competitive. Perhaps because you need an agency who can manage both design and programming, so that you would not have to hire and coordinate two separate firms. Perhaps you need a long-term business partner who can advise you on how to manage your online presence.

It may also be because we measure our product’s success by how well your goals are achieved. For us, it’s all about the performance — we analyze your positioning, and achieve tangible results.

do we do? We develop Websites and Web-based applications. Our overall goal is to marry art and science, or logic and emotion, to help our clients interact with the world. We produce products that meet our standards in every detail, and strive to make them as simple as possible, which is not an easy goal to achieve given how unnecessarily complex everything is today.

do we do it? We do not use off-the-shelf applications like WordPress, Drupal, and Joomla. We realized that these popular applications do not allow us to tailor the Websites to suit our clients’ needs. In most cases, clients end up tailoring the way they work in order to fit the design of these applications. Our clients demand more. We do not perform alternations on off-the-shelf suits; we custom tailor them using flexible frameworks and our own codebase, so that your Website would fit you perfectly.

We embrace Open Source solutions such as PHP, CakePHP, JQuery, MySQL, and Linux. And, we do everything on our Macs.
